Rent Our Venue

Want to hold a lecture? A band night? A birthday party? An intimate wedding? Stand up comedy? A private meeting?

People have asked if we have a rental policy for our venue. We do!

Applications for use of our venue can be made by filling out the form below. Please read the following information before applying. In every case, approval by the CBPAA Board of Directors is required, so applying well in advance of the date you wish to use our venue is highly recommended.

What is available?

Lobby only: This is available at a lower rate and includes only the lobby and restroom. Our lobby cannot be rearranged. If you need extra furniture, such as tables, chairs, display cases, etc., you must supply them and load them in and out during rental hours.

Lobby and Theater: This includes the lobby, restroom, 39-seat theater seating, stage, and backstage area. This is available at standard rates. As in Lobby Only, the Playhouse cannot provide anything other than a bare stage. No food or beverages except for water in a capped container may be taken into the theater seating. The walls currently on the stage cannot be moved, but with prior permission, they can be covered. Heavy equipment cannot be placed on the stage except with supervision by Playhouse personnel.

Tech Booth, Theater Lights, and Audio/Video: Available at additional cost and conditions.

Dressing room: The rearmost room in the building, which we term the "Dressing Room," will be locked and is never to be used by rentals.

Website: For uses approved by the CBPAA Board, the CBPlayhouse.org web site may be used to promote events to which the public is invited. With the understanding that theater seating is limited, the web site may also be used to reserve and purchase reserved seats. This at nominal additional fees.

 

Rental Includes:

1. A Playhouse representative who will open and close the facility and is also available for supervision and guidance. If the rental is for a performance, a seat in the auditorium must be provided for the Playhouse representative.

2. A paid technical operator if the tech booth is used. No other persons will be allowed in the tech booth.

3. The theater will be clean when rented. A non-refundable cleaning fee of $20 will be charged in advance for each rental period.

Excluded Usage:

1. Any usage that the Board deems damaging to the reputation of Colonial Beach Performing Arts Association.

2. Any usage that involves children (17 years or younger) except as passive observers in the audience. There can be rare exceptions to this rule (involving insurance) that most organizations will not be able to meet. Please inquire.

3. Political or politically motivated meetings open to the public. Private meetings of members of political organizations are allowed.

​Rates (must be paid in advance)

Cleaning fee: $20

Lobby and Theater:  $75 per hour (two hour minimum)

Lobby Only: $20 per hour (two hour minimum)

Tech Booth Operation: $45 per hour (four hour minimum includes two hours of rehearsal)

Website/Ticketing: Renter has the option, at no extra charge, of promoting their event with one blast using the email feature of CBPAA's ticketing service. Renter must provide promotional copy, which will state in part that the Playhouse is not responsible for the content of non-Playhouse shows. Renter also has the option of selling tickets using the ticketing feature provided by CBPAA's ticketing service. Ticket prices set by renter must cover credit card fees, and renter must agree to wait up to 30 days to receive ticket revenue, from which CBPAA will deduct credit card fees.
